Schwarze Industries Announces UNIMOG Chassis Availability for A7000 Regenerative Air Sweeper Models
(Huntsville, AL - March
29, 2004) The UNIMOG chassis was first built in post WWII Germany
to serve the German agricultural industry. The machines have been
seen in the U.S. since the early 1950s. Over 400,000 have been built
for use around the world, and their popularity in North America
is definitely on the rise due to the many alternate usages available
with the host of attachments that fit the UNIMOG chassis.
Communities (over 12,500 municipalities in Europe alone) buy it
for winter service, fire protection, search and rescue, disaster
relief, road construction, underground cable-laying by both trench
and plough-in methods, lawn and field mowing, waste removal, sewer
and street cleaning, tree transplanting, utilities boom truck and
mast erection, even grave digging, and more.
The UNIMOG is seen as a very welcome
addition to the American work scene. Today in the U.S., the UNIMOG
is on the way to taking its rightful place in an array of industrial,
commercial, and recreational applications, including regenerative
air sweeping. UNIMOG is a member of the Freightliner Group, which
is a Daimler Chrysler company.
The A7000-UNIMOG differs from the
standard A7000 configuration in some significant ways. Most visible
is that curb broom mounting is located in front of the chassis,
rather than behind the front wheel. This is done to allow the sweeper
body to be quickly changed to any of the other many configurations
available for the UNIMOG chassis. The sweeping power of the A7000
has not been compromised, however.
One of the markets the UNIMOG-outfitted
A7000 is seen to be suited for is snowbelt municipalities that are
unable to sweep all year 'round. With the A7000 sweeper offloaded,
the UNIMOG may be utilized throughout the winter season, either
as a snowplow chassis or for any of the dozens of other uses for
which accessories are readily available.
Offloading the A7000 sweeper body
is quick and easy. Removal of the sweeper takes about 2 hours, since
the sweeping head and intake and exhaust hoses must be removed.
However, sweeper removal allows the UNIMOG chassis to be used for
a wide variety of other applications. For someone with a need for
a sweeper that isn't to be used all year around, the UNIMOG chassis
may be an ideal choice.
The A7000 is one of the sweeping
industry's mainstays, with over 15 years of successful operation
throughout the U.S. The A7000 offers a 8.4 cubic yard hopper capacity,
is powered by a 115 hp John Deere turbocharged diesel engine and
comes standard with the industry-leading Schwarze WhisperWheelSM
fan system.
